Interpreting for NHS
As the population of non-English speakers grows, the need for qualified medical interpreters is ever increasing. Global Voices can help you bridge that gap at any GP practice and Hospital throughout Scotland, England and Wales. Our interpreters are tested and trained to specifically cope with medical terminology thus enhancing the experience of both the patient and the practitioner. Global Voices' interpreters are available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
We offer two types of service: Face-to-face interpretation and Video conference interpretation
Face-to-face interpretation
This is where the interpreter physically goes to the practice, the hospital or a patient's home.
Why choose Global Voices?
- We only use qualified interpreters that have gone through our medical training programme.
- All interpreters are checked annually with enhanced DisclosureScotland or CRB
- 80% of interpreters sent out live 30 miles or less from the GP practice, hospital or a patient's home. Thus reducing the cost and time of travel and facilitating multi-day interpreting projects.
- Global Voices does not charge anything extra for providing interpreters out of office hours or during emergencies, we believe it is all part of a good customer service.
Video Conference Interpretation
This is where the interpreter is at the Global Voices Video Conference Centre and interprets via the internet. The practitioner has the option to use Global Voices' mobile video cart (called Tito) or a standard PC.
What are the advantages of using Video interpretation?
- 80% of communication is non-verbal. What does this mean? Telephone interpretation is only 20% effective!
- Use Video interpretation and enhance the experience of the patient and practitioner.
- 50% of the cost of face-to-face interpretation is spent on travel time and travel expenses.
- Use video interpretation and reduce your bills by up to 50%. A considerable saving when you consider how much is actually spent on interpretation every year.
- On average 5% of interpretation projects are either cancelled less than 24 hours prior to the booking or the patient does not show up.
- Video interpretation is an on-demand service, thus there are no cancellation fees.
More Benefits?
- Video interpretation is environmentally friendly as there is no travelling required. This will fit nicely in your organisation's environmental policy.
- It is not always possible to provide interpreters at a specific time, either because of availability or due to restrictions with public transport. With video interpretation, there is always an interpreter available.
- Interpreters wait a considerable amount of time in between jobs. With video interpretation you reduce the waiting time by 100%!
How does it work?
- A mobile video conference device is supplied to your organisation.
- Plug it to the wall, switch it on and touch the "touch screen" to connect to our operator.
- Let the operator know the language you require and within 10 seconds an interpreter appears on the screen and you are instantly in a conference call.
It is simple, easy, cost effective and what's more. It works!
