Introduction
Barnardo’s and Global Voices have created an ongoing partnership in the fight against human trafficking and empowering survivors, especially children who have fallen victim to the crime. Barnardo’s faced a critical challenge in providing immediate and effective assistance to trafficked children, many of whom were survivors of traumatic experiences and needed urgent therapeutic intervention, guidance, and support. Language barriers further complicated this situation, hindering effective communication between the children and the professional counsellors and therapists attempting to help them.
Global Voices introduced a comprehensive interpretation service encompassing remote, on-site, and 24/7 on-demand interpreting. This approach ensured that Barnardo’s could respond rapidly and effectively, regardless of the time, location, or complexity of the situation.
Through secure video conferencing platforms, our interpreters facilitated real-time communication between therapist and children, breaking down language barriers and creating a conducive environment for therapy sessions. Trained interpreters were deployed on-site to offer in-person assistance, ensuring that every child received personalised support and guidance during face-to- face interactions. Recognising the unpredictable nature of crisis situations, the Global Voices team provided round-the-clock interpreting services. This rapid-response capability allowed immediate assistance whenever and wherever it was needed, offering a sense of security and stability to the vulnerable children.
The Challenge

- Fielding people in local areas wherein therapy sessions were taking place, operating out of six regions across the UK.
Our Solution
- Children were able to express their emotions, fears and hopes freely, leading to more effective therapy sessions. Our interpreters played a pivotal role in creating a safe space for communication and healing.
- These interpreters helped bridge the gap between different backgrounds and perspectives. This cultural understanding was crucial in providing holistic guidance and support tailored to each child’s unique needs.
- Barnardo’s could swiftly respond to emerging situations due to Global Voices’ rapid responses. This ensures that no child was left unattended during critical moments and aided in their recovery process.
